We are a service-disabled veteran-owned small business that promotes Resilient Local Farms that engage in organic practices, Resilient Local Businesses that reuse, and Resilient Local Restaurants that compost. We do this not only to encourage the revitalization of a local economy that adapts to the moment, but to embolden a more conscientious community that perseveres as being more robust, sustainable, and resilient as ever.

About us

Resilient Local was founded during the coronavirus pandemic to assist likeminded farms, businesses, and restaurants weather the collective economic hardship. Bridging the divide between our ideals and where we get our food, where we shop, and where we eat, is integral to being good stewards and preparing our community for the future. Our founder is a proven community leader that has a lengthy record of equally ambitious successes.

Farms

Resilient Local Farms improve the soil’s productivity, water retention, and carbon sequestration by rotating their nutritional and diverse crops or by pasture raising their hormone-free and antibiotic-free meats. By contrast, our fragile modern food chain’s processed grocery store items originate in faraway industrial monocultures or feed lots whose degraded soils erode, create aquatic dead zones, and are not carbon sinks.

BUSINEsSES

Resilient Local Businesses include those whose primary source of income is from the resale of goods, upcycling, or investing in a clean energy future. The livelihood of these businesses is premised on the notion that our consumption culture must change from not reusing items to their fullest potential, wishful recycling, or disregarding our own individual carbon footprints.
Businesses

Restaurants

Resilient Local Restaurants invest in our future by recycling their food waste into nutrient rich compost and many are even farm to table. Food waste that is not composted releases methane as it decomposes in landfills and methane is several dozen times more potent a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. This makes food waste the world’s third largest source of greenhouse gas emissions.

We are proud our very first Resilient Local Featured Partner is Mr. Fox Composting, who provides residential, commercial, and event composting services. Did you know the average household could divert eight to twelve pounds of food waste from the landfill every week by composting? Food waste placed in their containers is diverted from our waste stream, goes through their composting facility’s process, and is turned into nutrient rich compost. Residential customers even receive an annual complimentary burlap sack of compost to help grow fresh food in their home gardens and restart the composting cycle all over again. Mr. Fox Composting even sells their own plant based compostable plates, cups, and flatware that will breakdown during their composting process and be diverted from a landfill.
